ASTHMA MANAGEMENT
Asthma affects an estimated 10 million people in the United States
alone. Approximately 10-20% of these people suffer with severe
or poorly managed asthma. In 1990, the cost of asthma was estimated
to be 6.2 billion dollars.
Asthma is a highly treatable condition when properly managed.
It has been shown that intervention and information from Pharmacists
can significantly decrease the number of emergency room visits.
As a service to people with asthma, Iverson Corner Drug of Bemidji
has developed an Asthma Clinic to help educate you to better manage
your own health and maintain the highest quality of life possible.
We focus on helping all asthma sufferers, with their doctors,
to develop and individualized treatment plan based on the National
Institute of Health recommendations. As part of the Asthma Clinic,
you will receive information, high quality products and help in
managing your asthma. We will be on call 24 hours a day to answer
your questions.
We ask our patients with Asthma:
- Do you want to breathe better?
- How do you know your inhalers are working?
- Do you have information about the latest ways to manage asthma
effectively?
- Have you created a plan to manage your asthma and create the
highest quality of life possible?

When you sign up for the Asthma Clinic, you receive:
SESSION I: $120.00
- Education about asthma and medications you take.
- Answers to your questions.
- A free Peak Flow Monitor and instructions for its use
(a $30 value).
- Inhaler information and monitoring.
- Help developing a team approach so that you know where
to get the best help and information.
SESSION II: $80.00
- Create an Individualized Self-care Plan in conjunction
with your physician.
- Review inhaler techniques.
- Review of your Peak Flow Monitor techniques.
- Identification of your asthma triggers.
- A plan to avoid or deal with asthma triggers.
- Spacer and instructions for use (a $35 value).
SESSION III (optional): $45.00 or less
- Review inhaler techniques.
- Review Peak Flow techniques.
- Review your Individualized Self-care Plan.
PREPAY ALL 3 SESSIONS: $200.00
Follow-up visits after these three sessions will be arranged
as necessary.
During each session you will spend approximately 30 minutes
to one hour with a registered Pharmacist who has been certified
to work with asthma patients. You will receive a Peak Flow
Meter and other products absolutely free. If you have questions
